Social Security Disability Lawyer
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and South New Jersey

Jeffrey S LichtmanHave you been denied your benefits? Are you applying for benefits for the first time?

Social Security considers both physical and mental impairments to determine whether the applying individual is eligible to receive Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income benefits. An experienced Social Security Disability lawyer can help you present the strongest case possible to the Social Security Administration.

Experienced lawyer Jeffrey S. Lichtman assists clients in presenting their weaknesses, suffering, and problems with normal, day-to-day functioning in such a way that their Social Security Disability cases are approved and proper benefits are obtained. The same standard factors establish disability in both Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)  and Supplemental Security Income SSI benefits cases. The non-medical factors include the individual's age, education, work experience, and ability to communicate, read, and write in English. For instance, the more education you have, the more difficult it is to be found disabled. If past work experience has provided you with no true skills, or skills not transferable to lighter work, you may be entitled to a finding of disability depending upon the nature of your impairments. These factors, coupled with the individual's physical problems and/or mental health problems, determine whether an individual may have a winnable disability claim. An experienced Social Security Disability attorney can help you answer questions in a way that benefits your Social Security claim.

In determining if someone is disabled, strong consideration is given to the types of doctors and therapists consulted by the claimant for SSDI/SSI regarding their health problems, the frequency of visits, the types of medications being taken, the nature of procedures undertaken (surgeries, injections, different types of therapies), and emergency room visits and/or hospitalizations for the illnesses or injuries that contribute to the inability to work.

When individuals are ill or injured, they may be unaware of more subtle problems, such as memory loss or difficulty concentrating. An experienced Social Security Disability attorney can help point out such changes in personality and ability and present such impairments to the Social Security Administration for consideration in determining disability.
